Do I have to have a water meter?

If you're moving into a new property that already has a water meter then we're unable to take that away for you, and you will be charged for the water you use rather than a fixed cost.

If you asked for a meter to be installed and you've now changed your mind, we can take it away again anytime up to one month after we've sent you bills for 12 months from the date the meter was installed. Any later than this and we're no longer able to remove the meter for you.

If you have a swimming pool at your property which is automatically filled, or you use a garden sprinkler, the meter will need to remain in place because of the quantities you would use.
